Out For A Sunday Ride

After 9 hours of sleep last night I am still tired. Yesterday I did a 2 hour bike ride with 3 sets of 3 intervals of fast pedal and later that evening Patti and I went dancing for 3 hours to a Rock-n-Roll dance by the group-GTO, which played 1950's and 1960's music.

After Church this morning I went on a 3 hour and 15 minute ride. The temperature was in the low 50's, but with a southeast breeze and overcast it was still chilly. Like a fool I left my windbreaker in the truck and soon found out I didn't have on enough clothes. I perservered and by keeping a demanding pace was able to keep semi-comfortable. As part of my ride this afternoon, I did 3 Tempo intervals of 20 minutes each.

It was good to get home to a warm shower and a nice dinner.

Training Ride

Spring is supposed to be right around the corner. Today it got up to 48, but a strong northeasterly wind made it feel much colder. I went out on a training ride for 90 minutes. Even with 4 layers on I was still chilled. I also did 4 steady state intervals of 4 minutes in length with 4 minutes of rest inbetween.

It was good to get outside on the bike today after spending most of the day in my office on the phone or on my computer. The weather forecast for tomorrow looks much the same as today and I hope to get out for a longer ride.

My First Blog Entry

I started my first blog today. Kind of a late bloomer to this new mode of commun-ication. My only previous experience with blogging has been on the Crazy Guy On A Bike web-site, where for the last three years I have been posting my daily log while biking in Colorado: http://www.iowacyclist.crazyguyonabike.com/

We'll see how this form of writing/communication works. Not sure I have the fortitude and time to keep it up-to-date on a regular basis. Time will tell.

3:00 Went out on a training ride this afternoon. The wind was light and it was near 50 degrees, a good day to be outside and not on my trainer. I ended up with 50 minutes of endurance miles and 40 minutes of tempo miles. The tempo miles were hard, since I participated last evening in our Tuesday night club ride. To my dismay only 4 other riders showed up and they were all racers. So needless to say I was riding at threshhold most of the time and red-lined a few times.
